Abstract

The study presents the second stage of La Guelaguetza de Acervo Bibliografico or small library collection for marginal municipalities in Oaxaca. In order to secure funding for the second stage of this project, the authors applied and were granted funding from the Program for the Promotion of Research Universidad Autónoma Benito Juárez of Oaxaca. The methodology was to raise awareness and encouraged the university community and society at large to donate books they did not used, regardless of the book condition. Books were collected at the Book Restoration Center located at Direction of University Editorial Services Department. In this center, the books were restored and cataloged in blocks of 500 to 600 units. The objective was to collect enough books for five small library collection and to deliver them to at the municipal authorities with a low income population to encourage reading. The project exceeded its goal by delivering eight small library collections, which benefit 31,000 users in a number of communities
