Abstract

After the 1980s, the number of universities increased to 208 as a result of the policies pursued in Turkiye. Today, there is at least one university in every province. In order to compete nationally and internationally, universities are trying to differentiate and specialize by taking into account the socio-economic structures of the provinces where they are located. In this context, the aim of the research is to examine the process-based activities carried out by universities for defining, implementing, monitoring and improving the work in order to achieve the objectives in their strategic plans. In addition to this, it is to reveal the relationship between the activities carried out and quality management studies and to offer suggestions. In the research, Ordu University was determined as the sample. In the study where purposive sampling technique was adopted, data were collected by document analysis method. The data were analyzed descriptively with evaluative case study design. As a result of the research, it has been determined that the effort to differentiate and create value has become increasingly important due to the increase in the number of universities in Turkiye, in this context, strategic planning and process management are tried to be operated in leadership-management-quality, education-training, researchdevelopment, social contribution business activities, and a significant progress has been made in efforts to disseminate the quality culture for this purpose, but there are aspects that need to be developed.
