Abstract

The logistics sector is rapidly developing and gaining importance with global trade growth. In Turkiye, the logistics sector is of great importance with the strategic location of the country and the potential of its ports and airports. Hopa district of Artvin, a port city on the Black Sea coast of Turkiye, has a strategic position in terms of logistics due to these features. Hopa Port is an important center of maritime trade, especially with the countries bordering the Black Sea. Hopa district, where trade is carried out by sea and road, has significant potential for the regional and national economy regarding logistics. This study aims to evaluate the importance of green cities for green logistics and their sustainable development potential in the Hopa district of Artvin province. The problem of the research is to examine how green logistics applications can be developed in this area by evaluating the existing logistics infrastructure of Artvin/Hopa in terms of environmental impacts and sustainability. As a result, Artvin/Hopa has the potential for green logistics strategies to be successfully implemented regarding its geographical location and natural resources. The importance of this study and its difference from the literature is that it is prepared to contribute to creating green logistics strategies for Artvin/Hopa.
