Analyzing Sustainable Development Performances of Türkiye and Turkic Republics Using CRITIC-LOPCOW and CoCoSo Approaches

According to the idea of sustainable development, societies should take into account not only the goal of economic growth but also the environment and the quality of life for future generations. For the benefit of current and future generations, the concept of sustainable development is essential. There are three dimension for this concept: social, economic, and environmental. The ecological footprint serves as the study's representation of the environmental dimension. The Macroeconomic Performance Index's representation of the economic dimension. The social dimension represented by the Social Progress Index. Twelve criteria derived from these indices are used to calculate Türkiye's and the Turkic republics' sustainable development performance in 2022. Four economic, three social, and five environmental variables are used as criteria in the relevant calculation. Criterion weights are determined by combining CRITIC-LOPCOW methods. The CoCoSo method is used to assess a country's performance in sustainable development. The most effective criteria on sustainable development are growth rate, marine area ecological footprint and unemployment rate. The least effective criteria on sustainable development are grazing lands, arable land and CO2. Based on the findings, Uzbekistan, Kyrgyzstan, and Kazakhstan have the best performances in sustainable development; Tajikistan, Türkiye, and Uzbekistan have the worst performances. The study's contributions to the literature include the fact that sustainable development has never been calculated using these criteria, the examination of this topic in the Turkiye and Turkic republics, and the first-ever computation of sustainable development performance using these techniques.
