Abstract

This paper estimate an index of returns to scale for the manufacturing industries. The estimation technique assume that the Solow residual is not intrinsically procyclical. To perform the estimation, the paper calculates an aggregate input of labor and capital with weights equal to the shares of the factors on total costs. The paper finds substantial evidence of increasing returns in the mexican manufacturing sector and the findings are consistent with previous research that estimated market power for the mexican manufacturing industries.//El presente artículo estima un índice de rendimientos a escala para las industrias incluidas en la manufactura mexicana.
