Abstract

This article analyses the consequences of the Great Recession on the housing policy of the Basque Government. The reduction of available public resources greatly limited the ability to respond to the housing needs of the population, precisely at a time when the real estate market was greatly affected. The article studies the evolution of housing budgets and the way in which the policy has been adapted to the new situation, both in its instruments and in its objectives, particularly in the framework of the new Housing Law: subjective right to housing, rental housing, rehabilitation, etc. Finally, a series of reflections are made for the future.
