Abstract

This paper focuses on the role of Vocational Training (VT) centres in the development of the areas in which they are based. VT centres contribute to the development of their local areas via their own activities (the training that they give and the jobs that they themselves provide) but can also become hubs for cooperation between local agents and for facilitating processes and strategies for local development. This article looks at the elements that enable them to play this role as facilitators, based on the case of the Goierri district in the Basque Country and the Goierri Eskola VT centre in particular.
