Abstract

This article analyses the past evolution, current situation and future perspectives of employment and unemployment in Spain. First, it analyses the Spanish general data on employment and unemployment and compares them with those of the main European countries. After approaching the e xisting relationship between employment and productivity and sectoral evolution, it examines the problem of temporary employment. Two aspects of the problem of unemployment are then studied: the differente in incidence of this phenomenon according to the various characteristics of the individuals and families affected and the issue of the long-term unemployment. The article concludes with a study of future perspectives in employment and unemployment.
