Abstract

This article tries to establish some relationships between the environmental situation of the Basque Country and its culture and industrial structure. A constant preoccupation has been to make traditional environmental language, which does not reach certain sectors easily, something which everyone can understand because of its immediacy, the economic, even industrial effect, although this may not be the most important factor. On the other hand, it is quite clear that the industrial structure of the Basque Country is affected by serious problems of diversification, sectorial fragility and technological backwardness, just to mention some of these. Instead of presenting environmental conflicts superimposed, this work includes another viewpoint, through which the necessary environmental recovery represents a factor which motivases its promotion and resolution.
