Abstract

New technologies -especially those concemed with the processing and transmission of information- are causing profound changes in the world economy. The present article aims at deepening our knowledge of these changes. In addition to comparing the development of this sector in several countries, the article also analyses the impact of information technology on services and the economic repercussions of this impact, especially as concems internacional trade in services.
