Abstract

Este artigo trata do debate político sobre a legislação salarial brasileira duranteo segundo semestre de 1983. Explora as razões por trás das propostas baseadas na indexaçãointegral de preços, mas sugere que medidas que mantenham o nível dos salários médiosreais durante os períodos de reajuste salarial são um primeiro passo realista em umapolítica voltada para a recuperação dos salários reais em um ambiente não recessivo. O artigodiscute alguns mecanismos de manutenção do salário médio real, incluindo uma escalamóvel de reajustes não baseada em períodos fixos de reajuste. Medidas complementaresque lidam com controle de preços e políticas macroeconômicas mais amplas são discutidasno fechamento. Classificação JEL: J31; J33.
