Situando o desenvolvimento rural no Brasil: o contexto e as questões em debate

Abstract

O trabalho analisa as principais tendências e temas teóricos que integram o recente debate brasileiro sobre desenvolvimento rural. Aguardamos que a agenda do desenvolvimento rural no Brasil, da qual participam ativamente acadêmicos, organizações e instituições, tenha sido formulada pelo Estado e pelas políticas públicas implementadas desde o início da década de 1990. Entre os fatores que influenciaram a emergência do destaca-se o debate sobre desenvolvimento rural, a crescente legitimação social e política da agricultura familiar e a reforma agrária, a reorientação das políticas estaduais, as crescentes brigas políticas e ideológicas com a ala do agronegócio e as questões de sustentabilidade. Argumenta-se também que as referências analíticas e interpretativas utilizadas pelos estudiosos ainda são difusas e variadas, mas foram capazes de influenciar os formuladores de políticas.
