Discriminação tarifária sobre o café solúvel brasileiro: uma análise econômica

Abstract

Este artigo avalia os impactos da imposição de tarifas sobre o café solúvel brasileiro principalmente pelos países europeus a partir da década de 1990. Mais particularmente, verifica se a imposição de tarifas comerciais discriminatórias pela União Européia e de tarifas não discriminatórias por alguns países da Europa Oriental reflete na demanda internacional por essa mercadoria. Para esse fim, modelos dinâmicos de demanda global de café solúvel brasileiro foram estimados para o período 1995-2003, usando dados da Organização Internacional do Café. Os resultados sugerem que as tarifas existentes representam significativamente a redução da participação brasileira de solúvel no mercado mundial. Classificação JEL: C01; C51; L16.
