Abstract

Subjective expectations about future macroeconomic developments are a core input to people’s consumption and investment decisions. No commonly accepted model of the expectation-formation mechanism for macroeconomic variables has yet emerged. This special issue collects research that advances our understanding of how macroeconomic expectations are formed, how they can be measured, and how they shape economic behavior.
