Childhood adversity classes of incarcerated men and their association with prison-based psychological distress and substance use

Abstract

•Incarcerated men have unique classes of childhood adversity.•Four classes of childhood adversity were found using latent class analysis.•Classes varied by depression, anxiety, and stress scores, and prison-based abuse and drug use.•The association between class and psychological distress was sensitive to the inclusion of prison-based abuse.
