Dynamic behaviors and stochastic resonance of memcapacitor Hodgkin − Huxley neuron

This work presents a novel Memcapacitor Hodgkin-Huxley (MCHH) neuron model and investigates the modulatory role of a triggering magnetic flux on its membrane potential, ionic currents, input impedance, and capacitance gain. Through numerical simulations, the inhibitory mechanisms of membrane potential under different triggering flux values and the regulatory role of membrane capacitance changes on neuronal responses are revealed. The results show that as the triggering flux exceeds a specific threshold, the membrane capacitance gain significantly increases, leading to a reduction in membrane current peak and effective suppression of membrane potential, causing the neuron to switch from a firing state to a resting state. Furthermore, the study analyzes the bifurcation behavior of neuronal firing patterns and modulation of average firing rate by membrane capacitance and triggering flux. Furthermore, the influence of noise intensity on neuronal energy consumption and response characteristics was investigated. It was determined that at moderate noise levels, stochastic resonance is induced, a phenomenon through which signal processing efficiency is enhanced by optimizing the trade-off between energy expenditure and response fidelity. Finally, by simulating long−term potentiation (LTP) and long−term depression (LTD) through the Miller−effect memcapacitor, the model demonstrates potential applications in neural plasticity and memory mechanism research. Overall, this study provides new insights into the role of memcapacitive properties in neuronal dynamics and neural network regulation, offering theoretical foundations for the design of neuromorphic computing devices.
