Four-wave mixing induced beating solitons for the coupled nonlinear Schrödinger system in birefringent fibers

Abstract

Our study demonstrates that in coupled nonlinear Schrödinger (CNLS) systems with four-wave mixing (FWM), vector solitons emerge through the superposition of dark and bright solitons. These solitons, which display spatiotemporally periodic oscillations in the intensity of each component, are termed beating solitons. We reveal that FWM parameters critically determine the intesities of beating solitons, the periodicity of the total intensity, and the emergence of asymmetric structures. Furthermore, we investigate the interaction dynamics arising from the nonlinear superposition of beating solitons, focusing on phenomena such as overtaking collisions, bound-state formations, and parallel propagation. This study provides a theoretical foundation for controlling periodically oscillating multi-component solitons in nonlinear optical systems through FWM.
