Unternehmen mit Forschung im Ausland stärken den Forschungsstandort Deutschland

Abstract

Deutsche Unternehmen haben in den letzten Jahren verstärkt im Ausland in Forschung und Entwicklung (FuE) investiert. Damit stieg der Auslandsanteil nach längerer Stagnation auf fast 35 Prozent, während gleichzeitig ihre FuE-Ausgaben auch in Deutschland weiter kräftig zunahmen. Der Zuwachs im Ausland erfolgt also nicht auf Kosten des heimischen Forschungsstandorts. Zudem haben ausländische Unternehmen in Deutschland zuletzt wieder etwas mehr in FuE investiert, erreichen aber nicht den bisherigen Höchstwert von 2011. Gemessen am Bestand an Direktinvestitionen aus dem Ausland dürfte bei ihnen noch Potential für ein stärkeres Engagement in FuE bestehen. Im internationalen Vergleich war der Zuwachs der privaten FuE-Investitionen in Deutschland in den letzten Jahren hoch. Getragen wurde er überwiegend von deutschen Unternehmen mit FuE im Ausland.
