Große Potentiale der Nanotechnologie in Deutschland

Abstract

Nanotechnologie ist eine technologische Innovation, die aufgrund ihrer absehbaren vielfältigen Anwendungsmöglichkeiten große Hoffnungen auf neue Wachstumschancen der Wirtschaft weckt. Derzeit befindet sich die Nanotechnologie noch überwiegend in einer Phase der Grundlagenforschung, in einigen Fällen ist es aber bereits zu marktreifen Entwicklungen und kommerzieller Nutzung gekommen. Deutschland sowie die EU insgesamt stehen auch hier im internationalen Innovationswettbewerb mit den anderen Hochtechnologienationen, insbesondere den USA und asiatischen Ländern wie Japan, China und Südkorea. In diesen Ländern wird Nanotechnologie zu einem Schwerpunkt der Forschungsförderung. Derzeit verfügt Deutschland auf diesem Gebiet über eine international wettbewerbsfähige Forschungs- und Innovationslandschaft. Trotzdem bedarf es nicht nur verstärkter Unterstützung durch öffentliche Mittel, sondern auch intensiver Anstrengungen zur wirtschaftlichen Verwertung dieser Technologie.
