Abstract

Mit dem vorliegenden Bericht setzt das DIW die vor zwei Jahren begonnene Berichterstattung zur Entwicklung von Erwerbsbeteiligung, Einkommen und Armut in Ostdeutschland fort. Der seit 1990 zu beobac htende Rueckgang der Erwerbsbeteiligung hat sich 1995 nicht fortgesetzt. Die verfuegbaren Einkommen der privaten Haushalte haben sich weiter an die Durchschnittswerte in Westdeutschland angenaehert. Die Armutsraten stagnieren und liegen in Ost- und Westdeutschland inzwischen gleichermassen bei 11 vH.
