Agricultura Climáticamente Inteligente (ACI) en Colombia : diagnóstico y retos de política pública

Abstract

De las 15 millones de hectáreas con vocación agrícola que posee Colombia, sólo se usan 6; adicionalmente, sólo el 6% de las hectáreas aptas para riego cuentan con este servicio. Anadido a esta subutilización de recursos, el cambio y la variabilidad climáticos ponen en riesgo la producción agropecuaria, la seguridad alimentaria en el país, y por ende el desarrollo socio-económico del país. Este documento analiza las prácticas de Agricultura Climáticamente Inteligente implementadas en Colombia, que tienen el potencial de incrementar la resiliencia de los productores al cambio y la variabilidad climáticos. Los gremios y centros de investigación incorporan en sus decisiones pronósticos climáticos de fuentes oficiales; no obstante, persisten desafíos en torno a la traducción, transferencia y uso de dicha información, al abordaje de los niveles heterogéneos de resiliencia y adaptación, a la confluencia de políticas agropecuarias y medioambientales, a la necesidad de fortalecimiento institucional, y en relación con el Estado y las políticas públicas.
