Gasto en defensa y seguridad, conflicto y economía en Colombia

Abstract

En este documento se analiza el impacto económico del incremento en el gasto en defensa y seguridad como pilar de una estrategia de seguridad. En la segunda sección se estudia la evolución del gasto en defensa y seguridad (GDS) en Colombia y su composición a través del tiempo. En la tercera se muestra el impacto de la estrategia de seguridad sobre los principales indicadores del conflicto y en la cuarta sección se examinan los posibles efectos de estos resultados sobre el crecimiento de la economía. El análisis se centra en el efecto del conflicto sobre la productividad y deja de lado las consideraciones fiscales, no por ser menos importantes sino porque sin duda serán abordadas en los ensayos sobre finanzas públicas que Fedesarrollo comisionó para esta publicación especial de Coyuntura Económica 35 Anos. Finalmente, se resumen algunas conclusiones.
