Acceso a la educación superior para personas con discapacidad en Cali, Colombia: paradigmas de pobreza y retos de inclusión

Abstract

Resumen: Este artículo analiza las problemáticas de vulnerabilidad socioeconómica y de acceso a la educación superior que enfrentan las personas con discapacidad en la ciudad de Cali, Colombia. La metodología, evaluada desde la concepción de la pobreza, consiste en la estimación de un modelo econométrico multinivel y en un experimento social. Las principales fuentes de datos usadas fueron la Encuesta de Empleo y Calidad de Vida realizada para Cali en el 2013, así como datos obtenidos en una universidad privada de esta ciudad en el 2016. Los resultados indican que la población en estudio presenta una tasa de percepción de pobreza 1,84 veces mayor que el resto de la población, una probabilidad de acceder a la educación superior 47,71 % menor y un efecto comuna más incidente que el del hogar o barrio al que pertenezca. Abstract: This article analyzes the problems of socioeconomic vulnerability and access to higher education facing people with disabilities in Cali, Colombia. The methodology, evaluated from the conception of poverty, consists of the estimation of a multilevel econometric model and a social experiment. The main sources of data used were the Survey of Employment and Quality of Life conducted for Cali in 2013 and data obtained from a private university in this city in 2016. The results indicate that such population presents a poverty perception rate 1.84 times higher and a probability of accessing higher education 47.71 % lower than the rest of the population, as well as a commune effect more incident than that of the household or district to which they belong.
