Violencia y criminalidad urbana en Colombia (2000-2010): El enfoque económico ortodoxo

Abstract

Resumen: La incidencia transversal que tiene la violencia y la criminalidad sobre la mayoría de variables económicas ha inducido a que sean consideradas como objetos de estudio de la ciencia económica. El artículo presenta la mirada económica ortodoxa sobre la violencia y la criminalidad urbana, sintetiza los principales aportes de la literatura colombiana al tema en las últimas décadas y describe el comportamiento reciente de algunas variables asociadas con estos fenómenos en las principales ciudades colombianas; mostrando al final, los avances y limitaciones que tiene este enfoque económico para comprender y proponer soluciones al problema.Abstract: Crosscutting incidence of violence and crime on the majority of economic variables has led to their being objects of analysis of economic science. The article presents the orthodox economic view on violence and urban crime, summarizes the main contributions that Colombian literature on the subject in recent decades and describes the recent behavior of some variables associated with these phenomena in major Colombian cities. Highlighting the end, progress and limitations of this economic approach to understand and propose solutions to the problem.
