Estructura de costos de transacción de las remesas de trabajadores en Colombia - 2003

Con base en la información publicada por el Banco de la República sobre los Principalesresultados de la encuesta de costos de transacción de remesas de trabajadores" se hace unanálisis de las principales características de operación del mercado receptor de remesas enColombia y de sus costos de transacción. Se encuentra evidencia de un mercado en procesode cambio y con una mayor competencia, aunque todavía presenta importantes niveles deconcentración. Los costos de envío y posterior pago de las remesas tanto por comisionescomo por diferencial cambiario se han reducido. Los costos por comisiones, que son losmás altos, se determinan en el mercado emisor de las remesas, en tanto que el diferencialcambiario es la principal fuente de ingresos para las entidades pagadoras. Sin embargo, seencontró que estas entidades incurren para el pago de los giros familiares en costos altosy muy diversos.____________ABSTRACT:Of base in the information published by the Bank of the Republic on the "Main results ofthe survey of costs of transaction of remittances of workers" an analysis takes control ofthe main characteristics of operation of the receiving market of remittances in Colombia andtheir costs of transaction. Is evidence of a market in process of change and with a greatercompetition, although still it presents/displays important levels of concentration. The costsof shipment and later payment of the remittances as much by commissions as by exchangedifferential have been reduced. The costs by commissions, that are highest, are determinedin the emitting market of the remittances, whereas the exchange differential is the mainsource of income for the payer organizations. Nevertheless, one was that these organizationsincur for the payment of the familiar turns high and very diverse costs."
