Duración del desempleo y eficiencia de la búsqueda de empleo en Cartagena (Colombia)

Abstract

En este artículo se estiman los determinantes de la duración del desempleo y seevalúa la eficiencia de la búsqueda de empleo en Cartagena, a través de la GranEncuesta Integrada de Hogares (tercer trimestre, 2008). Mediante el análisis de duraciónse calcula el estadístico Kaplan-Meier y un modelo Weibull para ocupadosy desocupados. Se encuentra que en la medida en que se prolonga la duración deldesempleo más rápido se abandona este estado. Las variables género, experienciay canal de búsqueda determinan la tasa de salida en los ocupados; escolaridad,experiencia, estrato y género del jefe del hogar, la explican en los desocupados. Seconcluye que los canales informales son más eficientes para conseguir trabajo.
