Les inégalités salariales ont diminué en France

Abstract

En France, entre 1994 et 2007, la dispersion des salaires horaires a globalement diminué. La hausse plus rapide du SMIC que du salaire médian a produit un tassement du bas de l'échelle des salaires, qui a plus que compensé l'augmentation modérée des écarts observée dans le même temps entre les salariés les mieux rémunérés et les salariés intermédiaires. Dans l'industrie manufacturière, la réduction des inégalités salariales provient largement de la modification de la structure par profession des emplois au sein des différents secteurs. La profession est, de façon de plus en plus marquée, l'origine principale des inégalités de salaires. Mais alors que l'entreprise est une source de différenciation des salaires qui perd de son importance, la dispersion des salaires reste plus grande dans les entreprises qui participent aux échanges.
