"Lohnt" sich Arbeit noch? Lohnabstand und Arbeitsanreize im Jahr 2024

Abstract

Auf Basis des ifo Mikrosimulationsmodells untersucht der Beitrag den Lohnabstand und illustriert die Arbeitsanreize für ausgewählte Haushaltskonstellationen nach den für das Jahr 2024 beschlossenen Anpassungen im deutschen Steuer- und Transfersystem. Dazu werden die verfügbaren Einkommen in Abhängigkeit von der Höhe des monatlichen Bruttoeinkommens analysiert. Es wird deutlich, dass trotz der deutlichen Anhebung der Regelsätze im Bürgergeld weiterhin ein spürbarer Lohnabstand besteht. Eine Reform des bestehenden Systems wird aufgrund der teilweise äußerst geringen Anreize zur Ausweitung bestehender Erwerbstätigkeit oder Erhöhung des Bruttoeinkommens für niedrige und mittlere Einkommen trotz des existierenden Lohnabstands für notwendig erachtet.
