Wie wirken sich fachspezifische Lehrkraftqualifikationen auf Schülerleistungen in den Naturwissenschaften aus?

Abstract

Die Testleistungen von Schüler*innen in den naturwissenschaftlichen Einzelfächern sind um 3,5 % besser als der Durchschnitt, wenn ihre Lehrkraft eine Qualifikation im betreffenden Fach hat. Dies zeigt eine Analyse der internationalen Schülerleistungsdaten TIMSS 2015 in den Fächern Biologie, Chemie, Physik und Erdkunde. 20 % des Effekts sind darauf zurückzuführen, dass sich Lehrkräfte mit fachspezifischen Qualifikationen sicherer fühlen, die jeweiligen Themen zu unterrichten. Der positive Effekt ist besonders stark für Mädchen sowie für benachteiligte Schüler*innen. Außerdem profitieren insbesondere Schulkinder in Entwicklungsländern sowie in Ländern mit geringeren naturwissenschaftlichen Bildungsleistungen vom Unterricht durch Lehrkräfte mit fachspezifischen Qualifikationen.
