Abstract

In June 2014 the Ifo Institute conducted a one-off, special survey of wages, employment and financing at over 2,400 companies from manufacturing, the service sector, wholesaling and retailing, as well as construction. The aim of the survey was to assess the business environment, and especially financing conditions, of German companies in the wake of the last recession, to compare developments in labour costs and the significance of labour measures during and after the crisis, as well as to gather information on the type of wage setting and the frequency of wage changes during and after the crisis. This article summarises the results of the survey.
