Ifo Investment Survey of Retailing and Automotive Trade: Investment in Equipment Will Accelerate Slightly

Abstract

The results of the Ifo Investment Survey point to rising turnover, as well as higher investments than last year. Moreover, a divided picture emerges in retailing: only the bigger retailers expect turnover to rise. They are considerably keener to make investments than last year. Smaller companies, on the other hand, expect declining turnover and are planning investment cutbacks as a result. For automotive traders, the survey results indicate a more favourable business situation than last year, which should also bring about an increase in gross fixed capital formation.
