Unsicherheiten bei der Ermittlung von Übersterblichkeit während der Corona-Pandemie

Abstract

Die Übersterblichkeit war ein wesentlicher Indikator zur Messung der pandemiebedingten Gefahren in der Coronakrise. Als Voraussetzung zu deren Ermittlung ist es wichtig, die Normalsterblichkeit richtig zu berechnen. Im Folgenden wird die Normalsterblichkeit anhand verschiedener Methoden ermittelt, um zu zeigen, welchen Einfluss diese auf die Schätzung der Übersterblichkeit haben. Die hier präsentierten Ergebnisse zeigen, dass die Unterschiede zwischen den verschiedenen Rechnungen ganz erheblich sein können. Dies gilt nicht nur für das Jahr 2023, sondern sogar für die Jahre 2021-2022. Da es nicht möglich ist, die „wahre“ Normalsterblichkeit zu ermitteln, fehlt es auch an einem objektiven Maßstab zur Bewertung der Ergebnisse der verschiedenen Methoden mit Blick auf die Übersterblichkeit.
