Einwanderungsland Deutschland – Wie Migration den demographischen Wandel bremst

Abstract

Zuwanderung ist in Deutschland in diesen Tagen ein großes Thema. Dieser Artikel stellt Teile eines aktuellen Gutachtens vor, das das ifo Institut im Auftrag der Friedrich-Ebert-Stiftung erstellt hat. Darin werden die Auswirkungen von regulärer Migration auf die Zusammensetzung der Bevölkerung analysiert – also ohne Berücksichtigung der aktuellen Flüchtlingszuwanderungen. Ein zentraler Beitrag der Studie ist eine Bevölkerungsvorausberechnung der Zahl der Personen mit Migrationshintergrund in Deutschland bis 2030. Die Ergebnisse der Projektion legen den Schluss nahe, dass die Gesellschaft in Deutschland vielfältiger wird. Die über - wiegend jungen Zuwanderer tragen dazu bei, dass das Durchschnittsalter in Deutschland weniger stark ansteigt und die Bevölkerungszahl langsamer zurückgeht. Die regionale Verteilung der Menschen mit Migrationshintergrund ist allerdings sehr ungleich: Gerade die ostdeutschen Regionen, die am stärksten durch den demographischen Wandel betroffen sind, scheinen für Zuwanderer weniger attraktiv zu sein.
