Rigidités nominales et réelles des salaires en France : quel rôle des accords collectifs ?

Abstract

This article describes the degree of downward rigidity of wages in France over the recent period. It also examines the extent to which collective wage agreements contribute to this rigidity. The degree of downward rigidity is stronger on base wages than on all wages including bonuses and overtime pay. However, the effect of the collective agreements is quite similar on the dynamics of base wages and overall wages : a 1% rise in sectoral minimum wages increases salaries by just over 0.1 pp. The effect of firm-level agreements is a little stronger : observing a firm-level agreement is associated with higher wages of about 0.3 pp. The effect of industry-level agreements is weakly decreasing along the wage distribution and very heterogeneous according ¡to the sectors.
