Abstract

With the Great Paris Express project, the expansion of public transport infrastructure will involve a new deal for travel time of many inhabitants who will become users. This project is likely to have important effects on the labor market, both on demand and labor supply, by gathering together workers and jobs. In this paper, we focus on the effects on labor supply that are not uniform throughout the Paris region since they depend on the route of the Grand Paris Express, the location of jobs and the places of residence of employed and unemployed people. Based on a statistical and spatialized analysis of unemployment in the Paris region, we show that the Great Paris Express project could only partially improve situation of working people in the Paris region.
