Mercado de trabajo y discapacidad: Evidencias de un experimento de campo en Bolivia

Abstract

El objetivo del presente trabajo es generar, mediante un experimento de campo, evidencias sobre el vínculo entre la discapacidad y las prácticas y actitudes de discriminación en el mercado de trabajo boliviano. Se indagó acerca de la probabilidad de que un individuo con discapacidad, comparado con uno que no la tiene, sea contactado para un trabajo después de enviar un currículo. La estrategia empírica se basó en un test de correspondencia que consistió en el envío de currículos ficticios de personas con discapacidad de extremidades inferiores y de personas sin discapacidad, durante 8 meses, en el periodo mayo-diciembre de 2016, y luego durante 8 meses, en el periodo mayo–diciembre de 2017, respondiendo a las solicitudes de empleo publicadas en tres principales periódicos del país. Los resultados encontrados evidencian que las personas con discapacidad tienen realmente probabilidades mínimas de conseguir un empleo y, al mismo tiempo, plantean desafíos para la generación de políticas públicas en favor de este sector.
