An Analysis of Recidivism, Using the Truncated Lognormal Distribution

Abstract

The timing of return to criminal activity is analysed for men who have been released from prison. The dependent variable analysed is the length of time between release and first arrest leading to a conviction; a truncated lognormal distribution was found to fit the data well. The results of the analysis are presented and related points considered.
