El efecto del Seguro Integral de Salud en la salud Infantil: evidencia de un diseño de regresión discontinua

Abstract

El objetivo principal de esta investigación es evaluar si el acceso al Seguro Integral de Salud (SIS) en el Perú ha generado un impacto significativo en la salud de los niños menores de cinco años entre los años 2012 y 2014 a nivel de todo el país. En particular el presente estudio va a evaluar el efecto del SIS en anemia, diarrea y malnutrición son tres de las principales enfermedades que sufren los niños en nuestro país. Asimismo, vamos a evaluar el efecto del seguro en sobrepeso y obesidad que son problemas que vienen aumentando considerablemente tanto en países desarrollados como en países en desarrollo. Los objetivos secundarios son analizar potenciales heterogeneidades de los resultados asociadas a la edad y el sexo del niño y al estado rural-urbano de los hogares. Finalmente, a evaluaremos los canales de transmisión por los cuales el acceso al SIS puede haber afectado la salud de los niños. Este estudio se desarrolló como resultado del XXI Concurso Anual de Investigación CIES 2019, con el auspicio del Ministerio de Economía y Finanzas.
