Scarlet Influence: Creating a programme of holistic impact reports

Abstract

This paper describes the Rutgers University Foundation’s efforts to expand its holistic reporting to top donors (principal gift level) by establishing a milestone recognition system called Scarlet Influence. The paper discusses the reasoning behind selecting milestones as a key for creating holistic reports, the means by which milestones for individual donors were defined, how priority personal milestones were identified with the assistance of front-line fundraisers and then used for the creation of tailored reports, what the reports ultimately entailed, and other options for recognising milestones.
