Küreselleşen Dünyada Etnosentrizm: Üniversite Öğrencileri Üzerine Yapılan Bir Saha Araştırması

Abstract

Genel kabul gören bir tanıma göre küreselleşme; insan, sermaye, teknoloji ve hizmetler bakımından dünyanın giderek daha fazla bütünleşmesi anlamına gelmektedir. Küreselleşme karşıtlarını oluşturan bir alt grubun da etnosentrik (etnik merkezci) bireylerden oluştuğu iddia edilmektedir. Etnosentrik birey, diğer sosyal toplulukları kendi kültür örüntüsüne ait yaşam tarzı, gelenekler ve dinsel inanışlar gibi faktörlere göre olumsuz şekilde değerlendirmektedir. Bu çalışmada; Şırnak Üniversitesi’nde öğrenim gören üniversite öğrencilerinin diğer kültürlere karşı olan etnosentrik tutumları ve bu tutumların geçirmiş olduğu evrim irdelenmektedir. Metodolojik çerçevede Neuliep ve McCroskey tarafından geliştirilen Genelleştirilmiş Etnosentrizm Ölçeği (GENE) ve derinlemesine görüşmelerden yararlanılmıştır. Araştırma temel bulgularına göre, öğrencilerin ortalama etnosentrik tutum puanları orta-alt seviyededir ve etnosentrik tutum yurtdışı deneyimi ile düşme eğilimi göstermektedir. Bu bulgular, geleceğin kuşaklarını oluşturacak olan gençlerin genel etnosentrik tutumları hakkında bilgi sağlamak ve küreselleşmenin gençler üzerindeki etkilerini ortaya koymak açısından önemlidir.
