BİST Sürdürülebilirlik Endeksinde Yer Alan Şirketlerin Misyon İfadelerinin Kurumsal Sürdürülebilirlik Açısından Analizi

Abstract

Kurumsal sürdürülebilirlik kavramı son yıllarda şirketlerin karlılık hedeflerinin yanında farklı alanlara da dikkat etmesi gerektiğini belirten bir kavram olarak karşımıza çıkmaktadır. Kurumsal sürdürülebilirlik kavramı firmaların kar amaçlı çalışmalarının yanında çevreyi koruma faaliyetlerini, toplumsal eşitlik ve adalete yönelik adımları ve sürdürülebilir kalkınma faaliyetlerini kapsamaktadır. Bu çerçevede şirketlerin kurumsal sürdürülebilirlik faaliyetlerini daha net belirlemek için Borsa İstanbul bünyesinde kurumsal sürdürülebilirlik endeksi 2014 yılından itibaren yayınlanmaya başlanmıştır. Bu araştırmada belirli standartlara ulaşarak BİST sürdürülebilirlik endeksinde 2016 yılında yer alan şirketlerin misyon ifadelerinde hangi öğelerin kullanıldığı ve kullanılan öğelerin kurumsal sürdürülebilirlik ile olan uyumu analiz edilmiştir. Bu amaçla BİST sürdürülebilirlik endeksinde yer alan 42 şirketin misyon ifadesinden ulaşabildiğimiz 39 tanesine ulaşılarak elde edilen misyon ifadeleri içerik analizi yöntemi ile analiz edilmiş ve sonuç olarak elde edilen bulgular şirketlerin sosyal sorumluluklarla ilgili kelimelerin misyon ifadelerinde yer aldığını fakat çevresel sorumlulukla ilgili kelimelerin misyon ifadelerinde yeterince yer bulamadığını göstermiştir.
