Türkiye’de Büyüme- Enflasyon İlişkisi: Granger Nedensellik Analizi (1939-2013)

Abstract

Türkiye’de uzun yıllardan beri gündemde olan enflasyon olgusunun ekonomik büyüme üzerindeki etkisi halen tartışılmaktadır. 1970’li yıllara kadar, enflasyonun büyüme üzerinde pozitif etkiye sahip olduğu düşünülmekteyken sonraki yıllarda yapılan ampirik çalışmalar enflasyonun büyümeyi olumsuz etkilediği düşüncesinin yerleşmesine olanak sağlamıştır. Bu çalışmada Türkiye’de 1939-2013 yılları zaman serisi verilerinden yararlanarak ekonomik büyümeyi temsilen GSMH büyüme hızı ile enflasyon endeksleri (TÜFE, ÜFE ve GSYİH Deflatörü) arasındaki ilişki granger nedensellik analizi ile tespit edilmeye çalışılmıştır. Elde edilen sonuçlara göre, enflasyon göstergelerinden TÜFE ve ÜFE ekonomik büyüme üzerinde herhangi bir etkisinin olmadığı, ekonomik büyümenin granger nedeninin GSYİH Deflatörü olduğu tespit edilmiştir. Buradan ekonomik büyüme ile enflasyon arasındaki ilişki seçilen enflasyon göstergesine göre değiştiği sonucuna ulaşılmaktadır. Regresyon analizi sonucu yorumlandığında, enflasyonda (GSYİH Deflatörü) meydana gelen %1’lik bir artış büyümeyi % 0.15 oranında azaltmakta olduğu tespit edilmiştir.
