Cam Tavan Sendromunu Aşan Kadın Yöneticiler: Kariyer Öyküleri İncelemesi

Abstract

Çalışma yaşamına sonradan katılan kadın çalışanlar birçok farklı kariyer sorunu ile karşı karşıya kalmaktadır. Kadınların yaşadığı bu kariyer sorunları ve bu çalışma özelinde cam tavan sendromu bireysel, örgütsel ve çevresel birçok faktörden kaynaklanmaktadır. Sorunun kaynağının doğru tespit edilmesi çözümün daha kısa sürede bulunması ve etkinleştirilmesi açısından oldukça önemlidir. Özellikle aile şirketlerinde aile üyesi olan kadınlar dışındaki kadın profesyonellerin sorunu aşmada izlediği stratejilerin ortaya konması, cam tavan sendromu ile karşılaşma ihtimali oldukça yüksek olan diğer kadın profesyoneller için anlamlı bir yol gösterici olabilecektir. Çalışmanın amacı, cam tavanı aşan kadın yöneticilerin izlediği bireysel stratejileri ortaya koymaktır. Bu doğrultuda cam tavanı aşan 8 kadın yöneticinin ikincil verilerden edinilen kariyer öyküleri içerik analizine tabi tutulmuştur. Kadın yöneticilerin tamamının cam tavanı aşma stratejilerinden özellikle üniversite ve mesleki eğitim edinme stratejisini uyguladığı görülmektedir. Rol çatışmasını çözme stratejisi ise en fazla uygulanan ikinci strateji olarak yer almaktadır. Öne çıkan diğer unsur, örgütsel stratejilerin cam tavanı aşma konusundaki önemidir.
