Abstract

The objective of this paper is to analyze the influence of internal organizational structures and forms of mobilization of external resources of agro-food firms on their eco-innovative behavior and highlight their specificities in relation to other industrial sectors. An econometric model is tested on an individual dataset, representative of the French industry (CIS 2008, National Institute for Statistics) in order to analyze the respective role of firm's absorptive capacity, technological opportunities, and external environment conditions, in its intensity of environmental innovation. The results show that, beyond the classic determinants associated with regulatory pressure, firm's technological base and appropriability conditions of the external environment play a structural role on eco-innovation in agribusiness. We also highlight the specificities of agribusinesses such as the role of anticipated regulation and the relationship with territorial environment.
