International Recognition and the First Indian Medical Educational Sojourn from CMC (Calcutta Medical College)

Abstract

Elsewhere I have discussed how modern public health programs in India through the deployment of CMC (the first Asian/Indian college for modern European medical education - founded in 1835) graduates to different dispensaries across the Northern, North-Western and Bengal provinces was detailed [1]. Briefly speaking, the journey can be represented in a sketchy way like this - Calcutta Medical College CMC (>) Dispensaries (>) Inception of Public Health. This is substantiated by dispensary reports compiled in 1847.
