Analysis of Treatment of Polymyalgia Rheumatica

Abstract

The study presented below investigates the different treatment options as well as the medications used when dealing with polymyalgia rheumatica. Polymyalgia rheumatica (PMR) is an autoimmune inflammatory condition that is often characterized by stiffness in the joints, specifically the hips or shoulders. This disease is most often observed in those that are older, as it is seen that the likeliness of this disease increases with age. Multiple medications are available on the market to treat PMR, but prednisone is the option that is typically first used by doctors.
