Abstract

Cardiovascular disease is the most frequent cause of mortality in the world. Cardiovascular risk identifies a group of diseases such as atherosclerosis, which disorganizes the architecture and function of the vessels, variably reducing myocardial blood flow, identified as increased thickness of the carotid intima-media layer (cIMT), being an early marker of end-organ damage, which determines the risk of cardiovascular disease and can identify cardiovascular risk factors that require treatment
