Abstract

The main purpose of the paper is to analyse empirically the sources of technological opportunities. The analysis is based on a survey among 358 R&D managers operating in 127 different busniss units in Switzerland. Das Ziel der vorliegenden Arbeit besteht darin, die Frage nach den technologischen Chancen - d.h. nach den Chancen von Innovatoren, Zugang zu ökonomisch verwertbarem technischem Wissen zu haben - anhand schweizerischer Daten empirisch zu untersuchen. Dabei wird dieser zentrale angebotsseitige Bestimmungsfaktor des technischen Fortschritts nicht nur generell für die gesamte Industrie, sondern auch im Hinblick auf interindustrielle Unterschiede untersucht. Die Analyse basiert auf einer im Sommer 1988 durchgeführten schriftlichen und mündlichen Expertenbefragung in der Schweizer Industrie. Von den 940 befragten Experten (vorwiegend F&E-Leiter ausgewählter Unternehmen) haben 358 oder ca. 40% geantwortet; sie waren in 127 verschiedenen Wirtschaftsarten tätig.
