Comercio y medio ambiente en la producción forestal

Abstract

En este trabajo se enfoca la evaluación del comercio y del manejo sustentable de los recursos naturales renovables en el recurso bosque. Los dos temas principales emergentes en el comercio internacional de productos forestales procedentes de América Latina y el Caribe son: (i) las implicaciones de levantar barreras arancelarias para la contribución económica del sector forestal y para la sustentabilidad de la producción; y (ii) las perspectivas de mercados "verdes" de productos forestales con base en manejo y prácticas de aprovechamiento mejorada. Se considerarán también las posibilidades de aumentar el valor del recurso forestal y la sustentabilidad ambiental de los bosques a través de un aumento en la producción de productos forestales no maderables.
