Fachliche Zusammensetzung von Bildungsportfolios: Empirische Analyse eines Risk-Return Trade-Offs

Abstract

Nicht nur der höchste berufsqualifizierende Abschluss – wie oft angenommen – sondern der gesamte Bildungspfad wirkt sich auf den Erfolg im weiteren Erwerbsleben aus. Im Projekt wird die individuelle Zusammensetzung von Bildungskarrieren und deren Auswirkungen im Erwerbsverlauf untersucht. Besonderes Augenmerk gilt der fachlichen Zusammensetzung der Berufsbildung. Dabei werden drei Fälle unterschieden: Fachliche Spezialisierung mit einem Berufsbildungsschritt, fachliche Spezialisie-rung mit mindestens zwei Berufsbildungsschritten und fachliche Diversifizierung. In Anlehnung an CHRISTIANSEN ET AL. (2007) wird mit Hilfe der Portfoliotheorie der Trade-Off zwischen Risiko und Ertrag von Bildungspfaden analysiert, die als „Bildungsportfolios“ aufgefasst werden. Analog zu den Erkenn-tnissen der klassischen Finanzierungstheorie und ihren Ergebnissen zu Finanzportfolios wird vermu-tet, dass eine fachliche Spezialisierung bei der Zusammenstellung eines Bildungsportfolios zu einem höheren erwarteten Ertrag, aber auch zu einem höheren erwarteten Einkommensrisiko führt. Es zeigt sich, dass ein Trade-Off zwischen erwartetem Einkommen und Einkommensrisiko existiert. Des Weiteren wird deutlich, dass die fachliche Zusammensetzung eines Bildungsportfolios Auswirkungen auf Einkommensniveau und Einkommensrisiko hat. Vor allem bei Männern führt eine fachliche Diver-sifizierung zu Einkommenseinbußen, allerdings auch zu einem geringeren Einkommensrisiko.
